The TV version of Star Jones’ novel Satan Sisters is coming to VH1. The novel was originally published in 2011, five years after Jones left “The View.”
The new series will star actress and singer Vanessa Williams as Maxine, who is described by Deadline as “a formidable, powerful and decisive woman who fears she’s being put out to pasture.”
Vanessa Williams shared her excitement about landing the role in an interview with Buzzfeed.
“I’m such a fan of the talented team of Star Jones and Suzanne De Passe, who are giving us a look at behind-the-scenes drama of America’s favorite daytime talk show,” said Vanessa. “I can’t wait to jump into this fictional world of secrets, lies, and ambition and rule the roost. Bring it on ladies!”
The synopsis of the show will be centered on the ladies of “The Lunch Hour,” a daily talk show where the friendships of five ladies are constantly tested in a world of power struggles, personal demons, love affairs and so much more.
Jones says that the series is loosely based on her experiences as a co-host on ‘The View’ from seasons 1-9.
There are five more co-host roles to fill but the series is set to air in 2017. Ms. Jones will also serve as executive producer of the project.
Congrats to Vanessa Williams! We look forward to seeing who else will be cast in the upcoming series.
