Will Smith is indubitably one of the most well-respected actors in Hollywood. Starring in blockbuster hits like Independence Day, Ali, and the Bad Boys series, his resume speaks on behalf of his skill and experience as an actor. His extracurricular activities as a husband and father show that he also has a firm stance on what matters most in life. After many felt Will was snubbed during this year’s award season, MTV is paying homage to the veteran actor by presenting him with the Generation Award.
Will Smith and MTV technically grew up together, being there and supporting each other’s milestones in entertainment. The 2016 MTV Movie Awards is presumed to use the relationship to deliver an electrifying show, which MTV says will be a “Big Willie Style” type of night (whether that’s a good or bad thing is left up to the viewer, of course). With his new project, Suicide Squad, coming out this summer, there seems like no better time than now to honor the great Will Smith.
If you don’t want to miss out on the ceremony, tune into MTV on Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m.
