Chance The Rapper will be showing us his acting chops as he films for a new movie that will come out next year called ‘Slice.’ A24 released details on the project this past Monday, announcing that it plans to release the murder mystery film in the second half of 2017.

Chance spilled a little bit of the tea by tweeting this (clip).

In the movie, Chance stars as Dax Lycander, a werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver. A series of murders targeting unsuspecting pizza delivery boys start occurring and points back to Chance’s character’s  past.

Director Austin Vesely and frequent collaborator of Chance’s gave details on his upcoming first feature length film in an interview with RedEye Chicago.

“Slice was originally a short film I wrote,” said the director to RedEye Chicago, “which was probably about three years ago. At some point, I became interested in developing the idea into a bigger world. There was a lot of stuff in the short script I thought could be expanded upon in an interesting way. I just developed a feature-length script over the last year and a half to two years.”

He continued:

“Making narrative features has always been something I’ve wanted to do. Being friends and colleagues with Chance the Rapper was cool because he’s interested in movies too. He basically told me that when the time comes that I could make something, he’d be there for me. So I wrote a role for him in the piece. While he wasn’t involved in the writing up to this point, I told him what the general idea of the role I had for him was, and he was cool with that. When we get more into production we’re going to tailor the role more to his voice and his humor.”

Chance, born Chancellor Bennett, began his career through his popular mixtapes and this will be his first leading role in a film. The Chicago native became known for his 2013 mixtape Acid Rap, and in 2016, he dropped a surprise mixtape called ‘Coloring Book,’ featuring guest appearances from Kanye West, Justin BieberFuture and David Jeffries. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 album chart.

We’ll be anticipating Chance’s acting debut!
