If you haven’t been into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since the beginning, now is a good time to start. It’s an even better time to create that Netflix account with countless shows that have grown since the media streaming company’s popularity has risen.
While ABC/Disney has the Avengers, Netflix has The Defenders which kicked off with New York superheroes Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Now being added into the mix is Harlem hero Luke Cage, who is played by “The Good Wife” actor Mike Colter. The 39-year-old is switching from drama to action as he takes on the villains of Harlem, New York.
The full trailer for the streaming series has hit the internet and it does not disappoint with plenty of action and music from Hip Hop group Wu-Tang providing its soundtrack. “Luke Cage” seems to be the next largely successful show in the Marvel Universe with its Netflix partnership.
In case you were wondering who else will be starring in the series, Shadow and Act shares:
“Mahershala Ali is Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, an adversary for the title character to battle against. Simone Missick is a variation of Misty Knight. Alfre Woodard plays a variation of another Luke Cage nemesis known as Black Mariah. And Theo Rossi is Shades (aka Alvarez), a career criminal and a nemesis to Cage.”
Take a look at the trailer and be on the lookout as the series premieres in its entirety on September 30th:
