We always love when our favorite musical guests come through and perform on the infamous “Saturday Night Live” stage. So when we learned that Drake was not only performing but hosting as well, we had to tune in. The Toronto native graced the New York City stage clean-shaved (say goodbye to the beard, ladies) and showed us his humorous acting side, which we don’t see much of these days.
He opened the show with a hilarious monologue singing “I’m more than just a meme,” poking fun at himself about all the memes that ensued following his “Hotline Bling” video. He then put on a custom bob wig to impersonate his close friend Rihanna and sung their smash hit “Work.” He remixed the track while shutting down rumors that they’re dating, belting, “I swear we’re only friend, friend friend, friend, friend.”
Drake also appeared in some other very funny skits throughout the show, including “Weekend Update,” “Office Boss” and “Black Jeopardy,” where he acted as a black Canadian contestant, playing in all black-themed featured categories. He also had a skit called “Drake’s Beef,” in which he got into feuds with fellow SNL cast members and started freestyle rapping about them.
Last but not least, Drake took the stage to perform his new hits, “One Dance” and “Hype.” Checkout some of his SNL highlights below.
