Walk It Out With Prayer: Staying Fit & Prayed Up

pray“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and also belongs to God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Human beings are body, soul, and spirit. We are tripartite beings just as God is Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.   If we are lacking in any of these areas it can unalign us and leave us feeling empty. Therefore, we have to develop discipline in our physical and spiritual health.

In our busy society we are constantly on the run. It is hard to accomplish everything on our list everyday. So we tend to do the things we think are important and put aside the things that are less important. If you’re like me the things that always end up on my too busy to accomplish list is my fitness and prayer time. So I vowed to myself that this year I would combine my prayer and fitness time together. We have to take better care of our bodies and right now is the perfect time to start Walking it out with Prayer.

How to start WALKING and PRAYING at the same time

Are you ready to start walking? Are you ready to get a stronger prayer life?

  1. STRETCHING: 3 to 5 minutes.
PRAYER: Praising and Worshiping God, for who he is. We have to get our mind, heart, and strength focused on the power of God. By focusing first on the goodness of God we allow him to comfort us through his Holy Spirit and he hears us, and is able to hear our requests (Mat 6:8).
  2. WARM UP: Start walking for 5 minutes at a slow pace.
PRAYER:  Confession – Ask God to cleanse us from Sin. This part of the prayer we are confessing our sins to God, and in return he offer forgiveness.
  3. EXERCISE:  Walk for at least 30 minutes a day.  If you are trying to lose weight increase the time to 45 to 60 minutes, while increasing the speed every 5 minutes. PRAYER: Thanksgiving – Believing, and acknowledging God’s Grace.  We are thanking God for all that he has done in our life through Christ. We are admitting all blessings come from God alone, and we are opening our hearts to believe and receive current and future blessings.
  4. COOL DOWN: Slow down your walk for the last 3 minutes. PRAYER:  Specific Request. Start to make your personal requests to God. Ask him for your hearts desire and through Faith and Trust he will answer your prayers.

As we embark on this new challenge, please remember it takes time to see results when starting a new fitness regimen. With prayer it also takes time for our blessings and requests to come. Once we develop a habit in our physical and spiritual health we will become very powerful.

I pray that your body, mind, and spirit be renewed and become stronger through Christ.
