African Americans across the country are celebrating Black History Month. It kicked off with an amazing, controversial performance of Beyoncé’s new single “Formation” at Super Bowl 50. Then last week, Kendrick Lamar racked up awards at the GRAMMYs, followed by a touching performance of “Blacker the Berry” and “Alright,” which shed light on the day to day battles African Americans encounter. Now, in The White House, POTUS and FLOTUS are celebrating!
When President Barack Obama addressed the crowd at the Black History reception at The White House, he had a cute little joke. “We know it is black history month when ya hear somebody say, Heey Michelle! Girl! You look so good!” the president said with humor. But wait, it gets cuter! Michelle then responded, “He’s alright…you look good too baby!”

Seriously, don’t these two make your heart melt?
This will be the last year with President Obama and First Lady Michelle in office, and it’s more than safe to say that they will be missed. President Obama has shown black men that they can beat the odds, as he sits as the first black president of the United States. Also, Michelle has inspired many young black women to stay in school, chase their dreams and lead healthy lifestyles. Together, they have shown us that strong black love does exist.
This Black History Month, we celebrate President Obama and First Lady Michelle for making history like no other first couple has. Congratulations on finishing up your two terms in The White House, and Happy Black History Month.
