During an interview with Marie Claire for its third annual Fresh Faces issue, Kylie Jenner took credit for starting wigs.

“I started wigs, and now everyone is wearing wigs. Kim [Kardashian] just used my wig guy last night. … I just do whatever I want to do, and people will follow,Kylie told the magazine.

Wigs date back to the 18th century, way before Kylie was even born, so people definitely weren’t pleased with her statement.

Some people were so blown away by Kylie’s statement that they were hoping her words were screwed up.

After all the backlash, Kylie took to Twitter to defend herself.

Celebrities such as Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have been wearing bright and creative wigs for more than a decade now and we definitely can’t forget the impact Lil’ Kim made on the wig industry.

The Kardashians and Jenners have recently been wearing styles that African Americans have been wearing for centuries and the media is portraying it as something the sisters have created on their own. Let’s not forget where these braids, bantu knots, and wigs really originated.

Do you think Kylie really meant that she started wigs? Or do you think her words were twisted by Marie Claire? Dish out your thoughts below.
