2015 was the year of fashion trends that brought back vintage looks and simple aesthetics. What better way to reminiscence about the trends than to showcase our top 10 favorites here at EGL.
Circle Front Button Denim Skirts
This 70s staple piece reminded us of the hippie concert goers at Woodstock. These skirts were seen everywhere and anyone could afford them in their closet. Paired with billow blouses and platform sandals the look brought back a nostalgic carefree vibe in our closets.
It used to be that Sneakers were only for working out and running errands. This year they left the skate park and hit the street style pavement. Many fashionistas were donning their sneakers with high-waist plaid trousers, curve hem dresses and jeggings. Tomboy chic never looked this cute.
Lace Up Tops
Kim Kardashian made major headlines when she left America a brunette and stepped out in Paris a bleached bottle blonde. What she did not realize was that the lace up top she wore sparked a major cult movement. Lace up tops were seen in every major fashion retailer as tops, bodysuits and swimwear.
We could not leave the lace up just for our bodies, but we wanted our feet to experience the trend also. Corset heels made every outfit sexier. Either a simple bodycon dress or t-shirt and skinny jeans, these heels made you feel like you were with Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj feeling yourself.
Ripped Skinny Jeans
It used to be a thing where if your jeans were ripped you were either a super cool rockstar or just did not care about fashion at all. This year ripped skinny jeans either at the knee or all over were popular. The jeans gave us that edge in our looks making us feel like total badasses.
Tattoo Choker Necklaces
90s nostalgia at its finest! Tattoo chokers reminded us of cooties, writing in our diary and deciding which Spice Girl we wanted to be.
Brown Matte Lipstick
Matte lipstick became a major trend this year. It started with simple red colors and now they come in different shades of the rainbow. Brown lipstick however deemed popular this year. The 90s feel brought us back to the days of TLC and Aaliyah. Added bonus, there were different shades of brown that flattered every skin color.
Highlighter was seen in every beauty guru’s routine to accentuate the apple of cheeks and other areas of the face to add some shimmer.
Coffin nails were last years almond shape nails. Thanks to likes of Rihanaa and Ciera Rogers for daily nail inspiration, all of us were at the nail salon ready for a new manicured look.
We were damaging through our dad, brother and boyfriend closets to find that perfect baseball cap that had the perfect wear and tear feel to it so we could all channel our inner tumblr girl.
There you have it! It was fun to reminisce about all the fashion trends we went through for 365 days this year. Which trends do you hope to see stay in 2016 and which ones do you pray will stay in 2015?
