Last night’s MET Gala was one for the books with this year’s theme as “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Controversial to some, the theme was chosen to pay tribute to the masterworks of religious art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art through high fashion.

Attendees certainly didn’t come to play this year and had us literally clutching our pearls (well, crosses). There were so many who were right on theme and stole the show, so let’s get into it!

Not only was Rihanna one of the hosts this year, she came, slayed, and set the bar HIGH in “Pope Couture” wearing Maison Margiela. That Rihanna reign really won’t let up!

Jasmine Sanders

Jasmine Sanders truly lived up to her Instagram name, as she strutted the red carpet. “Golden Barbie” was radiant in a gold structured H&M Conscious Collection gown. Her long French braid with red roses was the perfect touch.

She’s one we can always count on to stay on theme! After sitting out for last year’s event, Sarah Jessica Parker knocked her look out the park, per usual. She wore a metallic gold embroidered Dolce and Gabbana gown with a nativity headpiece.

Cardi B

She is definitely living her best life! Cardi B slayed her first MET Gala appearance- baby bump and all! She wore a dramatic jeweled crown and beaded gown by Jeremy Scott for Moschino.

Lena Waithe

Lena Waithe certainly made a powerful fashion statement last night! The Dear White People producer wore a black Carolina Herrera suit with a rainbow-colored cape to represent the LBGTQ community. The Catholic Church’s controversial relationship with the gay community is not secret, so this was major!

When we say Zendaya never misses a beat, we mean NEVER! “Zen-slaya” came through as the iconic Joan of Arc,in a custom metallic Versace gown complete with armor and all. AH-MAZING!

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra wowed us last year in her dramatic Ralph Lauren trench coat, and this year was no different! The Indian star went with another stunning look by Ralph wearing an oxblood gown with a custom jeweled hood (which by the way, took more than 250 hours to hand bead).

Came through drippin’! The trio was covered in diamonds but can you guess what designer they wore…? Versace, Versace, Versace! Their coordinating sequin jackets resembled the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

J-Lo’s look may be our favorite! She stunned in a bejeweled Balmain dress with a red cross in the front and a thigh-high slit. A-Rod looked very priest-like in an all-black Balmain suit as well. Match made in heaven!

Diddy and Cassie

The couple came suited up, all puns intended! Diddy and Cassie both kept it minimalistic with their ensembles, but still hit the nail on the head for the theme. Diddy looked godly in a bespoke suit by Musika Frére and Cassie in Thom Browne.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora is never afraid to take fashion risks on the MET Gala carpet. She wore a semi-sheer black embellished Prada gown with a matching headpiece and sequined gloves.

Zoe Kravitz

Talk about a heavenly body! We gagged when we saw Zoe Kravitz arrive at the MET Gala. She showed off her physique in a black lace Saint Laurent dress with minimal makeup. Very chic!

Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick didn’t disappoint at all last night! The Black Panther star looked regal in an ivory Versace three-piece suit and cape. Both were adorned with gold crosses.

The singer wore a blush pink Versace gown fit for a princess with a celestial headpiece by Chrishabana. Yessssss SZA!

Blake Lively

The Gossip Girl wore a custom Versace gown with a custom-made Lorraine Schwartz halo with more than 100 carats of diamonds. Slaying in true Blake Lively fashion!
