We guess this was expected. Unfortunately, being a wishful thinker will have one hoping that their favorite superstars will once again return to the stage (even if it is for the 100th last time). For Spice Girls’ fans, that particular hope won’t be fulfilled. Why, you ask? Life happened.
We can’t forget that all these women moved on after the 90s and started their own individual lives and passion projects. They reunited back in 2008 to international fandominum, racking in over $100 million in profit and making it the first time the group had all been together in more than ten years. But even with the 20th anniversary of their debut album Wannabe, approaching, Mel C (Sporty Spice), as well as Victoria Beckman (Posh Spice), have opted out of the tour. Victoria Beckman is a serious business woman and she just doesn’t have the time while Mel C, well, her reason was more personal:
“Truth be told, earlier this year after several face-to-face meetings with the girls I made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri and Melanie. Victoria had already bowed out understandably with the demands of her fashion label and her rather large family. The hardest part for me was letting people down, the girls, the fans, civilization?! Unfortunately, something didn’t feel quite right and I had to follow my gut.”
To all the wishful thinkers out there, keep hope alive. Your enduring spices, Scary, Baby and Ginger aren’t leaving you hanging as they continue to prepare to bring you new music in honor of such a memorable milestone. SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!
