Spring is here! Well….almost. It is around the corner! We here on the EGL Fashion team want to give you enough time to prep your closets for the new season. Whether you are planning to take part in all of the trends that have “sprung” up this season, or you just want to take heed to a few, check out the top trends that we are calling out to ensure that you turn heads when the sun finally decides to come out!
Lace or Lingerie
What was once for the bedroom is now an acceptable piece to add to your #ootd. Models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have been seen on the scene sporting lingerie out in public and we must admit it is refreshing! Try sporting a sheer or silky camisole under larger layers or use a bustier to add a touch of femininity to otherwise masculine look.
If you find that some things should be left for the comforts of your own home. Take a modest approach to the trend and don an all lace outfit. Touches of lace are also on-trend for the season, but be careful what pattern you gravitate towards. It is very easy to end up looking like your grandmothers dooly.
You have the right to bare arms! Tops with cut out around the shoulders or a criss-cross neckline will keep you on the off-the-shoulder trend.
A carry over from Fall. The flared leg can be worn short or long with a matching blazer. For you taller ladies you can even wear the trend with a flat!
Break up your solids with a striped print. For my curvy cuties be sure to rock a striped pattern set in a vertical or zip-zag direction. Horizontal stripes tend to elongate the body in the wrong direction and can be less flattering than stripes that make one look taller.
In contrast to Fall’s Carwash skirt trend, this spring is playing up pleats. Be it micro-pleats or exaggerated pleats you can use this trend in substitute of the stripes trend and play up the folds in your fabric. If placed around the waistline is, pleats can add to the illusion of an hour glass figure.
Last but not least Pantone has come out with the go to colors for the year 2016 and they include: Rose Quartz and Serenity! The original hues of these colors are so light. Almost anything in these two colors are spring appropriate.
