After years of studying, self-discipline, road bumps and even heartbreak, many students found themselves walking across the stage this month, Pomp and Circumstance playing in the background, while being encouraged by current leaders and mentors in the world. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite faces who are gracing the stages of some of the best schools in the country.
Earlier this month, famed director, writer and producer, Spike Lee, delivered the commencement speech at Helene Fuld College of Nursing on National Nurses Day. Lee is also scheduled to give the commencement speech later this week at the prestigious John Hopkins University.
This past weekend, Seattle Seahawk Russell Wilson returned to his alma mater to give the commencement speech. The University of Wisconsin Madison Badger delivered a positive dialogue about preparation, faith and keeping life in perspective. To hear Wilson’s speech for yourself, check it out below; starting at 1:07:00.
Former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, took her place on stage this month at High Point University in North Carolina. Bestowing the first doctoral degrees in the school’s history, this graduation was one to be remembered. She left the students with this, “Be passionate about what you choose to do in life. Use your power of reason. Cultivate humility. Remain optimistic and always try to serve others as well as the goals of freedom and peace and justice. Capture this moment forever in your mind’s eye.”
Congratulations to all the graduates of 2016, from pre-k to doctoral, we at EGL hope the brightest for your future!
