Spring is in session and summer is right around the corner! That means that along with the gym and healthy eating some of us may also be trying to get rid of the pale pigmentation. No matter what your melanin count is there are products out there to help take your skin from dull to glowing. There’s no comparison to the sun, but when in a pinch here are some quick tips on how to get the summer glow without baking in the sun.

There are tons of options out there:
>Spray
>Lotion
> Gels
>Mousses
With all these options it’s hard to pick and that normally leads to playing the age old game of trial and error. Hopefully these tips will help eliminate that.
No matter what your skin tone, if you just want some shine and glow without a lot of color, leg shin products are the best. They’re super easy to apply. You literally just rub it on! They come in different formulas but are most effective when the skin is clean, shaven, and dry. Even though they say leg shine you can use them anywhere on your body (except your face).

For those with lighter skin tones who want that all over bronzed/golden brown look the most long lasting effect is the spray form. Best results come when your skin is exfoliated, shaven, and clean. Make sure to cover palms, ankles, elbows and knees with some type of oil. Also wear a shower cap if you spraying over the face and neck. Sprays can get kind of pricy, but they’re worth it. They’re less likely to bleed all over stuff. Also be aware that they do fade over time, especially after taking a shower. Although, please don’t shower until 24hrs after the spray application to make sure it sets in.

To the ladies/men who already have some color and just want to add a hue of depth to their skin tone, I recommend lotions, gels or mouses because they rub right in. While they do wash right off, they are perfect for shorts, skirts & other outfits where you want a hint of added color to the areas that are exposed. Be mindful of the base of the product (ex. Oil). Oil base products are going to bleed easier in humid, hot climates. Also, mouses work best with oily skin types, not dry because they set too quickly and can look uneven. All-in-all lotions or gels are the most preferred.
Getting summer fine can be a lot of work, but in all the fuss remember the best you is naturally beautiful and glows from the inside out. You can bronze, spray and lash yourself to death but that won’t change what may be in need of internal enhancement. With that said lets enjoy the summer one glow at a time.
