Initial thoughts:  I first came across this product at target (in the natural hair section) and was appalled by this big, bright yellow bottle with a smiling gorilla on the forefront of the package. As I continued to observe the label I noticed the words “gel” followed by the word “snot.” Huh? Now immediately, I was not too fond of putting a product in my hair that was referred to as “gorilla snot,” but on the other hand I was intrigued. I had never seen this product in  the aisles of target before, so if it made it to the natural hair section, there must be something good about it. I went on to do some digging on YouTube (my go-to source for hair information) and found that many users had positive things to say about the gel. All I can say is… after one use, I knew I would purchase again.

Impressions from websites and users: “The name is silly & the packaging is fun. The gel is yellow & very gooey and sticky. This works great for my chin-length bob – gives me great textured beachy waves without frizz. Not crunchy, not greasy, not heavy, and definitely not hard – this is a strong-hold gel that leaves hair very soft & pliable.” – Username: FELGOJ (MakeupAlley.com)

My reaction:  The gel has a thin-like consistency, yet it is very creamy and sticky. I applied a dime-sized amount to my edges, used a brush to slick my hair back and covered it with a scarf.  Five minutes later I had a perfectly smooth hairline. Magic!

Do I recommend it: Yes! This product is nice. The consistency is light, so it is perfect for your edges and sleek, edgy hair styles. There is no flaking or residue, and it leaves just enough shine. This product can be used on all hair types and a little bit goes a long way!

My Rating: 3.5 Hearts

Price and where to buy: You can find this product at Target for less than $3.
