As a fan of all things quinoa, the thought of using a face peel made with it on my face got me very excited. Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate with quinoa husk is a gentle peel that could be used every night to help skin resurface. So here are my thoughts…
Kiehl’s was founded 150 years ago as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village. The thought that this brand has been around that long, alone, had me intrigued. It was my first time using any of the Khiel’s products, although I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Kiehl’s is popular for using herbal and medicinal research to create their products, as well as the finest ingredients.
Product Overview: Let’s take a moment to read the bottle. The product claims to do the following: “accelerate surface skin cell turnover” to “reveal fresher newly radiant skin” and lastly, “visibly evening skin tone” softening “the feel of rough texture over time.” The serum-like peel costs $54 and comes in a small glass bottle with a dropper.
First Five: These are some of the ingredients in the Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel:
1.) Water, 2.) Alcohol, 3.) Hydroxyethylpiperazine, 4.) Ethane Sulfonic Acid, and 5.) Hydroxyethyl Urea.
Impressions/Reactions: As far as accelerating skin cells turnover, I can attest that it does this. I had a scar on my nose that was very dark, after using the peel for four nights straight (as well as sunblock, because it is a peel) the scar got visibly lighter, enough for me to stop using concealer on it. It slightly lightened some other stubborn acne scars I have around my chin. Finally, the reason I would recommend the product: It left my face feeling extremely soft. I loved putting it on before bed and waking up with softer skin. For it being a peel, it is pretty mild, however, I do think that it is helpful for dark marks and refining skin texture.
Questionable Ingredients: There are several ingredients that sound like they are not very “natural,” however, there are quite a few that do sound like they are herbal blends, like orange fruit water, Lemon Fruit Extract, Sugar Maple Extract, and of course, quinoa husk.
Do You Recommend It: Absolutely! I’m a fan.
