Product Name: Curls Unleashed Aloe Vera and Honey Curl Boosting Jelly
Product Overview: Curls Unleased Aloe Vera and Honey Curl Boosting Jelly is designed to provide moisture, define, and elongate curls without that crunchy feeling. It is made for all hair types and the product is free of parabens and sulfates. This product is great for styling your hair for an easy wash-and-go or a well-defined twist-out. I personally use this product every day, as it leaves no build up, but keeps my curls defined. While it can not be used alone, in combination with other moisturizing products, it is perfect for creating a well-defined look. This product can be found in all drugstores and beauty supply stores.
What the product claims to do: The product claims to use all of its natural ingredients to give your curls amazing definition, frizz-free without that crunchy gel-like feeling.
- Glycerin (helps to retain and pull moisture)
- PPG- ceteth-20 (emulsifying agent)
- PEG-12 Demethicone (hair conditioning agent)
- Aloe barbadensis leaf juice
Impressions from Users: “This stuff really defines my curls and somewhat elongates them vs. when I use Shea Moisture’s Curl Soufflé. I like to use the jelly whenever I’m going to pull up the front half of my hair into a top knot b/c it leaves my hair really soft and makes it easier for me to slick down the hair pulled into the top knot when I’m going for a sleek look. The jelly does not give me any type of moisture so I used the TGIN leave-in…The result was well defined, shiny curls that lasted about three days. I’ve never had any issues with flaking and perhaps it’s because of the oils or maybe the products I’m using work really well with it.” (Naturallycurlly.com) User: BlountedReal
My reaction: While this product has mixed reviews, overall, many women agree that this product definitely provides that crunch-free curl definition that most women desire. The consistency of the product is not thick like a gel, but instead, just like the name suggests, a very bouncy and light weight liquid paste. The product has a strong smell, however once I got past that, I realized how amazing it really is. While the product does claim that it provides moisture, it unfortunately lacked in that department. To make sure my hair was moisturized, I added the Cantu Leave-In Conditioner, and coupled with the gel, it is now my go-to combination. In regards to styling, this product is in my top five favorites for gels due to its light-weight feeling. It does not weigh my hair down like many other gels, but instead, allows my curls to stay defined, but still big, bouncy and soft.
Do I recommend it: Yes, I do recommend it! However, depending on your hair type, you may need to find a good moisturizer to use with it.
