Interesting Info About The Company: The As I Am Naturally line was developed by Dr. Ali N. Syed, a master hair care chemist and entrepreneur. This product has received the stamp of approval from several prominent hair care professionals, chemists, doctors, and even received the 2014 ‘Best of the Best’ award from leading influential natural hair product website,

What Does The Product Claim To Do: This product claims to remove product build-up from your hair and helps it to retain moisture between regular washing sessions. It also claims to spread easily throughout hair while gently cleansing the hair and scalp. Developers say that it is gentle enough for daily use, assists with detangling, and that it also adds shine to the hair.  The company also claims that it is safe for color-treated hair.

Five Ingredients: Aqueous (Purified Water) Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Extract and Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Extract, Castor Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil. This product is also sulfate free, paraben free, silicone free, protein free and glycerin free. To date, it has not been tested on animals.

Initial Thoughts:  This was my first time using any product from the As I Am line. This is also the most talked about product from the line. After viewing some reviews on YouTube and on other natural hair blogs, I decided to take the plunge and try it. My first thoughts were that the packaging was very clean and attractive.  I love the brown color of the jar, the logo design and that the natural ingredients are listed on the front of the label. Once I got the product home, I could not wait to open it up so that I could use it. To my surprise, I was greeted by the scent of delicious coconuts, tangerines and even the smell of shea butter.

Impressions from websites and users:

CurlyNikki: “This works very well for me. It cleans product buildup and dirt from my hair without stripping the moisture. It adds so much moisture and I love it.” – User: jmedina3b  (5/5 Star Rating)

KinkyCurlyCoilyMe: “I finally decided to pick his up and I’m so happy I did. My CoWash session was very enjoyable. My hair was soft, clean and very moisturized. There’s so much product in this jar that I cant imagine ever finishing this product. “ – Janelle Stewart

My Reaction:  I picked this product up at my local target for $5.99. Now, normally this product costs $7.99, but luckily I used a coupon that came in the mail. Even for $7.99 you are getting a GREAT deal. The Co-wash comes with 16 ounces of creamy coconut goodness. For a newly 4C natural like me, I am always on the hunt for products that will make my kinky coils soft and moisturized. This product went above and beyond the call of duty. Upon opening the jar I was delighted by the enticing aroma of coconut and sweet tangerines. I went on and applied the product in the shower under warm water. The CoWash has a nice light lather and was easy to work through the entire head. After rinsing with cold water, my hair was left soft, fluffy, and super moisturized. Before applying my leave in conditioner I could tell that my hair had great slip. I could easily work my fingers through my hair and detangle with a wide tooth comb. Most importantly, my scalp felt clean. My hair was soft for 3 whole days (the amount of time I let pass before my next CoWash session). The only downside is that the product comes in a jar versus a squeezable bottle. Having to scoop out product with my hands can sometimes get a little bit messy. Other than that,  this product is still a favorite of mine and is now a staple in my beauty routine!

Do I Recommend It: Yes! This product is AMAZING. Your hair will be left cleansed and moisturized without feeling stripped and dry afterwards. Plus, it is perfect for every hair type and it smells delicious!
