We all want our kids to find the perfect toy for our children to play with and to spend less time playing games on the smartphone. Here are a few unique and cool toys to make for your child.
1) DIY Edible Play-doh
Ok let’s be honest we have all at one point in time wanted to know what Play doh tasted like only to realize what a big mistake that was). To prevent your kids from having to go through that experience here’s how to make edible play doh.
Supplies Needed: Marshmallows, powdered sugar, and water, Optional: food coloring
Take one bag of marshmallows and place in a bowl. Place water in bowl and place the bowl in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Take bowl out of microwave and stir until fluffy. Add powdered sugar into the mixture. Take the mixture out the bowl and knead until it reaches a non-sticky dough-like consistency. Pull apart and add food coloring to create different colored play doh mixtures
2) DIY Edible Crayons
If your child likes to color and is at that stage where they like to put everything in their mouths, this is how to make edible crayons for them to enjoy.
Supplies Needed: crayon molds, mold putty, candy melts, Pyrex cup, exacto knife
Take a box of crayons and cut out molds with an exacto knife. Take crayons and place inside mold putty and let stand for 20 minutes. Remove crayon molds from putty. For the edible molds, place candy melts inside a Pyrex cup and place cup in a pot of boiling water until melted. Pour a little at a time in a separate container and add food coloring. Stir together until it reaches a “doughy” consistency. Take spoon and place mixture inside mold putty and let stand for an hour to overnight. Remove edible molds from putty. Use exacto knife to clean off excess.
3) Cardboard Box & Pots and Pans
Ok, maybe this one doesn’t sound as creative as the last two but trust me when I say that this is all you need.
Supplies Needed: cardboard box, pots and pans
Just give them a cardboard box, pots and pans…and watch the magic unfold.
