There’s no denying it, adding sunglasses to any outfit can really pull your look all the way together. Over recent years, we’ve seen all different types of sunglasses become trendy, fade to the past and then reemerge again. Aviators and stunna shades to retro squares and cat eye sunnies, we love them all! Owner, Ashley W., has always had a passion for sunglasses and chatted with EGL about what her line truly represents and how she started.

EGL: Tell us how FE Eyewear stands out among every other eyewear company/line?

Ashley W.: The styles are handpicked exclusively for the brand and sold with a limited quantity for an exclusive shopping experience.

EGL: How did you get started?

Ashley W.: About four months ago I started [doing] research [on] sun glass lines. Sunglasses are my favorite accessory and I always have a pair that goes with an outfit I wear. During my research, I came across various wholesalers and started ordering samples. After about two months of sampling sunglasses, I felt like I had found what represents [my] brand [the best] based on the designer-inspired styles (meaning the look and the hardware of the glasses).

EGL: Where does your inspiration for your designs come from?

Ashley W.: I’m inspired by runway shows, eye wear advertisements in magazines, street style and campaign videos. Sunglasses come in all different shapes and sizes to fit the perfect facial frame.

EGL: What has been the most difficult and the most rewarding part of owning and running your own business?

Ashley W.: The most difficult part about owning and running my own business was the the start up [process]; figuring out  the beginning stages to bring my visions to life. I had no clue where to begin, but I was determined find it and start the right way. The most rewarding part was seeing my vision on set for my first campaign. It showed my hard work thus far and the image I wanted to portray to my future customers.

EGL: Do you have any upcoming projects or campaigns that you would like the world to know about?

Ashley W.: My latest promo video for my 2015/2016 Winter campaign will be available to the public starting Jan. 24, 2016. [That’s] one week before the launch of the website on Jan. 31, 2016. 

EGL: What’s your advice for women who want to start their own business, specifically in the fashion industry?

Ashley W.: Continue turning your dreams into visions. If you can’t stop thinking about your dream, make that dream a reality every chance you get and never stop.
