Our favorite media queen has found a second life after stepping away from her talk show years ago and getting her OWN network up and running basically on its own.
Oprah Winfrey began her acting career in the 80’s and 90’s but briefly stepped away from her popularity as a talk show host grew for over 25 years. Currently, Winfrey has made herself an actress to be reckoned with as she took on a role in Lee Daniels’ film The Butler and now with her role in the new drama series “Greenleaf.” And now Winfrey is taking on another film with her “Queen Sugar” director Ava DuVernay.
Oprah has been cast in one of the lead roles in the upcoming Disney film A Winkle in Time, in which DuVernay is set to direct. The story follows children as they enter into strange worlds to find their missing scientist father.
Oprah is set to play the character named Mrs. Which, one of the three Mrs. W’s that guide the children along on their journey.
Both Winfrey and DuVernay have a strong working relationship that dates back to their first film together, Selma back in 2014 where Oprah made a cameo and the film eventually nominated for two Academy Awards and won Best Song for “Glory” by John Legend and rapper Common.
A premiere date has not been set for the film. Oprah is currently filming The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack for HBO.
