Netflix’s summer hit Orange is the New Black has been renewed for three more optimistically outstanding seasons! Orange is the New Black may honestly have the most diverse cast on screen, big or small, and stood tall this awards season. The show added back to back wins to their repertoire at the SAG awards for Outstanding Performances by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and by a Female Actress in a Comedy Series, awarded to Uzo Aduba.
In spite of the mixed-feelings from fans on season three, it seems fans still believe there are more stories to be be told. Last season saw the addition of new character Berdie Rogers (Marsha Stephanie Blake), who is a prison guard determined to get to and through to the inmates while giving Mr. Healy a huge wake up call.
It’s safe to say for those who are fascinatingly coveted by the show that June 17th will be a coveted day for the premiere of season four. Jenji Kohn, series creator and showrunner, will continue holding the reigns for seasons five, six, and seven also.
Expressing her enthusiasm on the good news, Kohn says this: “Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures…Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks, Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers … with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!”
