If you were wondering whether there was going to be another season of “Power” after Sunday night’s premiere, you don’t have to wonder anymore. The most popular show on the Starz network has been renewed for 2 more seasons after a record breaking season three premiere.
The Sunday night premiere reportedly drew in more that 2.26 million live viewers plus same day viewers. The overwhelming rise in viewership is a promising sign for the network as this is the first original series to make the move from Saturdays to Sunday nights to compete with HBO and Showtime.
Creator of the show, Courtney A. Kemp, in response to the news, gave a statement to deadline.com,
“Chris Albrecht and the Starz team have believed in this show from the very beginning. Everyone here at Power is deeply grateful for the tremendous support we have received from the fans of the show, which made today’s announcement possible. I am humbled by this vote of confidence from the network and the opportunity to continue to employ our excellent cast and crew, who work tirelessly to bring this show to life.”
50 Cent, executive producer of the hit series, is also very excited about the news said,
“I knew Power was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with Mark Canton. The fans support for the show has been the driving force of its success, and I can’t wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.”
The third season picks up after Ghost (Omari Hardwick) supposedly kills Kanan (50 Cent) and deals with the aftermath of leaving his life as one of the major players of a huge drug network. All the while, he is starting to live his life as a nightclub owner and commit to his former girlfriend, Angela Valdez (Lela Loren), who is an US Attorney.
