The Notorious BIG biopic “Notorious” came to theaters in 2009 and was enjoyed by many, who thought it was a good representation of BIG. Most being represented in the film was happy with the casting, except rapper Lil Kim.

There were big stars playing in the movie including, Angela Bassett (as Biggie’s mom,) Derek Luke (as Sean Combs,) and Anthony Mackie (as Tupac.) Upcoming actors including, Antonique Smith (as Faith Evans,) Jamal Woolard (as BIG), and Naturi Naughton (as Lil Kim.)

The rapper was extremely vocal about her dislike towards the writers interpretation of her role and who was selected to play her in the movie. The Queen B stated, I would have never picked Naturi, she doesn’t have a Lil Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities. Watching her on-screen was so ‘dreadful’ as Simon Cowell would say. She is tasteless and talentless. Never once did she contact me for input or to get a feel of me for the character.

Naturi has never addressed the Lil Kim beef until recently during an interview with VH1 Live! hosted by Marc Lamont Hill.

Hill asked about the issues that Kim has with her, and the Power star responded, “The shade is real, I don’t understand it. She continued, You know what Marc, maybe you can find out why. All I know is, I had the pleasure and honor of playing Lil’ Kim in the film ‘Notorious. I was a first-time actress in a film, you know? This was the beginning of my career. I’m a little black girl from New Jersey, why not support that?

Naughton then went on to say that she has no beef with the famous rapper. The actress ended the conversation with, I don’t have any beef. How am I gonna squash beef that I didn’t have? I’m just all love and positivity, and moving on to ‘Power’ and all the great things in my life.

Lil Kim has yet to respond to Naturi’s classy clap back!

Congratulations to Naturi as Power was renewed for two more seasons.
