It’s a bit closed minded to think that girls can love everything except comics, and for you ladies who are faithful comic book freaks, we here at EGL can only imagine how excited you must be for the 2018 release of Marvel’s Black Panther film, especially after hearing about the addition of the disgustingly handsome Michael B. Jordan. The team that is Ryan Coogler and Michael B., reunite again after their award winning film Creed, making the Black Panther their third project together.
There is not concrete word on the role Jordan will be playing but rumors are, according to The Hollywood Reporter, we may be seeing our favorite good boy turn villain. The lead role of Black Panther has already been assigned to Chadwick Boseman (42, Get on Up), in which the world saw him murder (in a good way) the role in Marvel’s latest release of Captain America: Civil War. Lupita Nyongo (The Queen of Katwe, 12 Years A Slave) is currently in negotiations with Marvel and may possibly star alongside Boseman.
Black Panther is set to be released on Feb 2, 2018, but who exactly is the Black Panther? He is illustrated as the king and protector of the fictional African nation Wakanda. Called T’Challa, born into the Panther Tribe, he was solely raised by his father after his mother died during labor and his step mother was taken prisoner. Remember Storm, from X-Men? Well, let’s just say they have an interesting history. Since his debut in 1966, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, The Black Panther has fought alongside the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and, of course, the Avengers.
If you’ve never been a “comics girl,” that’s okay, but if you’re into a great story line, that literally keeps on giving (Greys, Friends and SVU have nothing on this longevity), comics might be something worth giving a try. You never know, you might just like it.
