Mary J. Blige isn’t letting a pending divorce slow her down. The Queen of Hip Hop and R&B has joined the hosts of “The View” for a brand new theme song and video.
The What’s the 411? singer created “World’s Gone Crazy” for the daytime talk show as it prepares to go into its 20th season on ABC. The song was written by legendary songwriter Diane Warren as she gives Mary the room sing about the global insanity.
“The world’s gone crazy,” she sings. “I think there’s only one thing to do / I think that we should go crazy too.”
The video, which may or may not have been a strange idea conceived by Whoopi Goldberg, starts with a phone conversation between the actress and the R&B singer. Goldberg is telling Blige about her plans for a video, and then poof, the concept turns into reality. The video features the latest panel of “The View” including veteran host Joy Behar who is joined by Raven-Symone’, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Candace Cameron Bure, Jedediah Bila, and Paula Faris.
The tune is definitely catchy and you get a chance to see the fun side of the hosts as they attempt to sing the song.
“The View” has had a lot of shake-ups over the past two seasons with the departure and addition of a few hosts. It will be interesting to see the new season and the chemistry between the vets and the newbies on the show. The longtime talk show is competing with “The Real” that reaches for a younger demographic.
In the meantime Mary keeps herself busy as she and Diddy dance away their break-up blues when she is not already in the studio cooking up some new music.
Mary will be appearing live on “The View” during its premiere week starting September 6th to perform the song.
