Four years after the infamous interview that left her crying and has since been the butt of jokes and circulating memes, Lil Mama boldly made a return to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to promote her EP, “Take Me Back” and chop it up with some of our favorite radio personalities.

During the interview, she discussed everything from her recent work with the youth to her views on the memes and comparisons to Bow Wow.

Having had her fair share of ups and downs over the years, she openly discussed these life experiences, showing a level of growth and maturity that is beyond admirable. Check out some of the highlights below.

On why she cried during the last interview:

“The reason why I got emotional was because I was talking about my mother and at the time I hadn’t really come out about how I felt about it. I went through a phase where you know in that moment, when I came to talk to ya’ll, that was the first time that I ever sat down with a group of people and discussed it.”

On her regrets in life:

“I don’t regret anything because I feel like everything that I have been through is a part of who I am right now, it’s all a part of my growth. What I did learn was how to roll with the punches a little better cuz at times I would get knocked down and I stay down and be like ‘why are they doing this to me, I’m so young, I’m so,’ n***a, nobody cares! You got young kids in armies overseas, like 12 years old, pulling out ratchets like ‘let’s go.’ So I had to really build that back bone and without my mother, I had to learn how to be a woman.”

On relationship with TLC:

“It’s a sensitive thing when you have the perfect three and this is the three you’ve learned to know, you’ve learned to love, you grew with and now you have this new young person, that we kinda got a chance to be a part of your journey and things like that, but you’re not Left Eye so we don’t want to make it seem like we are replacing her but that was the biggest issue in continuously working with them but I did get a great run.”
