Ladies, I’m sure you’re just as excited as I am that it’s time to SPRING forward. Per usual, we all are starting to hit the gym to get ready for swim suit season, looking at new styles and colors to update our look, and starting to pull out all our cute colorful dresses and shoes. Well let’s not forget to update, our makeup. To assist with that, here are the new color trends for spring 2016 and how you can apply them to your beautiful skin tones.
Main trends for spring 2016 blue lids, red lips, bronzed cheeks, and blown out lashes. Sounds like the 60’s all over again right?! Let me recommend some creative ways to apply these trends but not look like you never let the 60’s go.
For our fair skin Dolls, a SILVER BLUE… is the best addition to your makeup bag. It’s bold but won’t overpower you. For your everyday look place color on the base of the lid only and blend into the crease with a matte neutral color. Follow-up with two coats of a dark brown mascara and enjoy your day. To make this look flawless add a touch of rose to the cheeks and lips.
For the ladies with a natural tan your range of blue is a little wider. You can go light blue to dark blue but be aware, no matter what blue you choose, don’t take the color past the crease of your eye lid. Also be mindful of the shape of your eyes. If you have small close-set eyes, the focal point of the color should be on the outer lid to make the eyes appear farther apart. If you have big eyes, you can put the focal point of the color closer to the inner eye. Brown or black mascara would look good with this and you can finish the look with a neutral cheek (copper bronzer) and lip color. Neutral meaning close to your natural skin tone, but with a base of pink.
For my melanin rich beauties dark blues are for you. Complement this with a highlighter instead of a bronzer and that nude brown lip stick you love to rock when you’re headed to the store. Yep that one! It’s perfect for a blue lid.
This year’s lip trend makes me extremely happy. Not only is it one of my favorite colors to wear on my lips, it’s one of those colors that looks good on every woman. RED!!! Apple Red to be exact, however the same rules that applied when wearing blue lids apply when you have that puckered red lip. Just like no skin tone is the same, no red is the same!! Be mindful of the combination you pick.
With fair skin ladies you want to go for pink reds during the day and blood red at night.
Honey Brown Beauties Look out for those Cooper Reds.
For All the Chocolate drops I recommend apple red, burgundy red & berry red.
TIP: To prevent color from bleeding onto your face and for long-last results, line your lips with a matte red lip liner first!
