In a perfect world, everything and everyone would be exactly how we want. In reality, perfection isn’t a possibility especially when dating. If you’ve ever tried to break up with someone who wouldn’t accept that it’s over or couldn’t get rid of a guy you were dating because he didn’t understand that the feelings weren’t mutual, then we have a few tips on how to easily call it quits.

If you want to take the indirect approach then the friend zone is a great way to do so. Instead of being downright mean, you can explain that you would never want to jeopardize having him as a friend and you both would benefit more from keeping the relationship platonic. This helps to avoid damaging his male ego and making you seem callous. Although friend zoning may be the easier short term option, be aware that this may only prolong the process of ultimately getting rid of him forever. What may be very clear and obvious to some, others may look at as another opportunity to proclaim their love for you.

Honesty is always the best policy so if you know that things will never go further; be sure to communicate that and make yourself very clear when doing so. Your actions should match your words! Don’t say one day that you don’t want to be with him but the next you’re going on dates, accepting gifts, and whispering sweet nothings. That contradictory behavior sends mixed messages. To avoid unnecessary stress and misunderstandings, just tell him like it is. He may not appreciate it now, but later on he will and if not at least you can have a clear conscience knowing that you did the right thing.

Some guys are relentless and if that’s what you’re dealing with then delete him from all areas in your life, social media included. Change your number and carry along as if the two of you never met before. Don’t take pity on someone who doesn’t respect your wishes to stop bothering you. Every obsessive stalking case once started out as a simple crush gone terribly wrong. If you sense that he’s not easing up then consider taking legal action. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you start to become afraid of what he might do.
