40 years ago, a teen scream queen was born to pave the way for the everyday run of the mill distraught archetype that we see today. Jamie Lee Curtis, the lead in Halloween’s franchise, the one that got away and continues to allude the infamous Michael Myers. Thus, our love for the iconic mask was born, with that chilling powdered skin and unruly hair that has become the time-saving go to classic costume, that will scare the Bejesus, (old school word), out of the bravest of hearts. To that end, what also some go-to costumes and customs that will set your Halloween a blaze without burning your time and money? Let’s find out as we look at a few quick picks for a fun, safe, yet easy, BOO season!
Tricky treats– Let’s face it, we know that Halloween is all about the candy. We try to throw some healthy eats in there, but the kids just pick over what they view as healthy and go right for the junk! Well this year parents can get creative cute by dressing up a veggie plate or fruit plate to look like Count Dracula, A Ghostbuster, or a Goosebumps character, and dare your little villain to eat its eyes, nose, and ears. Which undoubtedly can be a nutritious vegetable/fruit disguised as a body part. Once the kids catch on, the nutrition will already be at work.
Trendy costuming– A wig, some shades, and a ton of attitude with a flick of “Okuuur”, and poof you have Cardi B. If you are running low on funds and time just whip something you have in your closet and like magic, you are your favorite celebrity. With a bit of attitude and a pucker of the lips, one can do anything, so go be great and get your inner Donatella Versace on. Yes, Ms. Versace with your $10 blonde wig and those bug-eyed shades from the Ross sunglasses carrel, you are runway ready, the runway of your cul-de-sac that is!
Tactful celebration– Now back to the kiddos, which should be the driving force behind Halloween but somehow an oversexed cat woman or a naughty nurse always seems to pop up. Any who, we’ll tolerate the later as long as we can keep our eyes on the prize in keeping our little ghouls and goblins safe during this spooky yet fun season. How about in leu of going house-to-house in an unknown fancy neighborhood to trick-or-treat, we engage in Trick-and-Trunking inside of our church or neighborhood’s parking lot/ open area. You would be amazed at how people can hook up a trunk to scare you or flare you to pieces. All while a parent can feel safe knowing the people that they chose to take goodies from, are for the goodness of their little ones.
Halloween can be very hectic, expensive, and time consuming but it doesn’t have to be, for parents and peeps on the go please refer to these lines to save time and shop on a dime.
