We recently witnessed history as Kobe Bryant played the final game of his career and retired from NBA Basketball. There were headlines about him scoring 60 points in his final game vs. the Utah Jazz. He had support from his wife Vanessa, and two daughters, but Kobe recently stated there were some people missing.

Kobe’s parents Joe and Pamela Bryant did not show up to his final game, and Kobe revealed that he has not spoken to them in three years! The rift occurred when they tried to sell his high school memorabilia behind his back.

Our relationship is shit,” he told ESPN. “I say [to them], ‘I’m going to buy you a very nice home, and the response is ‘That’s not good enough’?” he says. “Then you’re selling my shit?

His parents’ lawyers got involved, and told them they could auction six of his memorabilia items which added up to $500,000.

Once the items were sold his parents stated, “We regret our actions and statements related to the Kobe Bryant auction memorabilia,” his parents confessed. “We apologize for any misunderstanding and unintended pain we may have caused our son and appreciate the financial support that he has provided to us over the years.”

Kobe also stated that he does not financially support his two younger sisters, because they both went to college and can support themselves with the money they earn from their jobs.

Hopefully, Kobe and his parents can mend their relationship soon now that Kobe has more time on his hands. It would be nice to see them come together and be a family again.
