Gracing the same stage as artists such as Lady Gaga, Grimes, and Tame Impala, Kendrick Lamar hit the stage for day one of FYF Festival in Los Angeles. Deemed as “The Best Weekend of the Summer,” the line-up delivered an array of different artists, mixed to perfection.
Taking control of the stage for a little over an hour, it was clear that Kendrick Lamar felt good to be home. Staying true to his artistry and the ability to mesh motivation and pure knowledge into a dope song and/or set, Kendrick made it a point to display leaders in their own right on the screen behind his. Using icons like Oprah, Michael Jordan and Barack Obama, Mike Tyson and Bill Clinton as his backdrop, the crowd sang along to K. Dot fan favorites “King Kunta,” “These Walls,” “m.A.A.d City” and “Alright,” just to name a few.
Ending an epic set by yelling out “I love you L.A.!” the rapper left a lasting impression on the entire crowd – Not only through his music, but though his energy and imagery.
