Comedian Katt Williams was arrested Monday afternoon in Gainesville, Georgia on a battery charge for punching a clerk during a verbal dispute.

A staff member at Leslie’s Pool Supplies said Katt entered the store with two women and two bodyguards.  Eventually, the comedian got into a confrontation with an employee and threw a pair of googles at him, then went behind the counter and punched him.

Gainesville police Sargent Kevin Holbrook said officers responded to the 911 call around 11:30 a.m. to find the comedian “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail.”

A few days post the physical altercation, Katt Williams explained to a TMZ reporter that the store clerk was the one to blame for the incident when he accused Williams of stealing and called him the “N” word.

He used the N-word on the last day of Black History Month,” he explained. “He thought that when he was having a conversation with me that I was in his pool store to rob it.”

Katt Williams has been arrested more than 10 times, including a rare police chase in 2013. He was also arrested in September of 2014, alongside rapper Suge Knight, for robbing a celebrity photographer. Williams is now facing a misdemeanor battery charge and was held on a $5,000 bond.
