At this point, nothing Kanye West does should be a surprise.  You either love him or hate him. He’s a flavor you have to take with a grain of salt.  He’s taken on the mission of proving to the world that he’s a legitimate artist (in more areas than one) and in doing so has ruffled a few feathers and stepped on a lot of toes in the process.

Inspired by painter Vincent Desiderio, West recently released a video for “Famous,” a popular single from his The Life of Pablo album and has stirred up a pot of naked memes and upset stomachs.  Who really knows (besides Kim) what’s behind a lot of what Kanye does in the public eye, and with this last stunt, the question simply becomes “Why?”

Unable to post the video due to its exclusivity with Tidal, “Famous” is not your typical hype, visually effective hip-hop video- far from it.  The close up shots and night-flashlight effects on the 12 naked bodies of celebrities and politicians like George Bush, Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian West, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caityln Jenner, Bill Cosby and even Donald Trump made the entire video; there is even a point where the music stops and the visual (again, 12 naked celebrity bodies sleeping) continues to play.

Kanye had a screening in LA before the big release where he invited more of his celebrity friends. After seeing the film, Kanye told Vanity Fair they only had one response.  “They want to be in the bed.”
