Beginning her platform as a reality TV star, former “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” cast mate K. Michelle is now venturing into the world of politics. However, according to the “Rebellious Soul” singer, her recent interest is just a start to the lists of plans that she has in the works. With the primaries upon us, the singer has shown support on Instagram for Democratic Frontrunner Hillary Clinton and is actively campaigning for her on HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities.) She shared her sentiments on social media:
“My life has taken me places I would’ve never thought,” said K. Michelle. “I graduated from Florida A&M University with honors, and later was accepted into numerous law schools. Then one wrong turn and my life changed,” she wrote. “From ratchet reality TV, Twitter fights, to currently making history as the 1st African-American to ever receive an endorsement and their own beverage brand through Jack Daniels. So many wrong turns, but a constant fight to get back on the right track. It’s takin some time but after this album, I’m taking a break to focus on my other gifts…P.S. I will be actively supporting and campaigning for Hillary Clinton throughout this term, she is a woman who you should know. A woman also counted out. I relate to her. I’m placing my energy in people and things that evoke CHANGE!”
My life has taken me places I would’ve never thought. I graduated from Florida A&M University with honors, and later was accepted into numerous law schools. Then one wrong turn and my life changed. From ratchet reality TV, Twitter fights, to currently making history as the 1st African-American to ever receive an endorsement and their own beverage brand through Jack Daniels. So many wrong turns, but a constant fight to get back on the right track. It’s takin some time. Music is my heart and my life, but after this album I’m taking a break to focus on my other gifts. I would like to finally enroll in Law School and pursue my other business ventures. My restaurant is in build out, my home good line is about to launch in a department store near you. I have two TV shows I’m producing. I also have one of the hugest announcements of my life about my new partnership with Atlantic Records coming in a couple weeks. Wow. Who would’ve thought that red wig, Love & Hip Hop K. Michelle would be at this point? Today I heard my mother cry because she was proud of my current career accomplishments and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. My goal isn’t to be the perfect role model, but to be the MOST realistic. To anybody I’ve hurt along this journey of healing my hurt. I’m SORRY. To all my fans I love you like family. March 25 is a celebration! I will be releasing my third album #MoreIssuesThanVogue when they said I would NEVER have one. You guys made the last 2 albums #1 on the R&B charts, let’s make the third time a charm AGAIN! One Love. P.S. I will be actively supporting and campaigning for Hillary Clinton throughout this term, she is a woman who you should know. A woman also counted out. I relate to her. I’m placing my energy in people and things that evoke CHANGE! ✊?
K. Michelle’s all around transformation – including her new and professional look — is inspiring; but fans are not letting up on her for backing Hillary Clinton. Read posts below:
Born Kimberly Michelle Pate in Memphis, Tennessee, the inspiring businesswoman knows that such change doesn’t come easy. She is focusing on the HBCUs in order to make college affordable, so everyone can receive a quality education. K. Michelle saw that Hillary was in support of education and it garnered her attention.
“Use your platform for the good of others,” said K. Michelle under her Instagram post. “Hillary’s conversation and speaking to her about the issues that are important to me as an African American woman, was beyond motivating. To know that she shares the same commitment to education and helping us out with the funding of HBCU’s makes me more that proud to endorse her.”
K. Michelle is financially committed to sending one student named Jasmine to college, which she also mentioned under her video, if she keeps up with her grades. The story will continue to be updated on K. Michelle’s social media.
I believe that every student has a right to receive a quality college education. As a graduate of FAMU, my focus is on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The legacy of these schools has to carry on, and we have to find a method that makes it easier for my people and minority’s to advance. #hillary2016 I have financially committed to sending 1 student name Jasmine to college if she maintains her grades. You will be able to follow Jasmine’s Journey to college and meet her. We will post her on my social media sites for the next year! I met her on my video set recently and she was brilliant. Coming soon???
The star also plans to enroll in Law School, open a restaurant and produce two television shows.
Michelle’s life is proof that anything is possible despite the setbacks and negativity around you – an inevitable part of becoming successful. Congrats to her in all her future endeavors.
“Everyday isn’t guaranteed to be perfect,” said K. Michelle on Instagram. “But through every obstacle, there is a road that leads to great things if you allow yourself to have a clear vision. I’m truly grateful that I could be apart of this. Congratulations Hillary Clinton on winning South Carolina…”
