ICONIC. Honestly….truly!

Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur are among the elite artists and entertainers who have been nominated to enter the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame for 2017. The announcement was made earlier this week.

Ms. Jackson was put on the short list for the award last year before being snubbed. But the fact that she has another chance shows the loyalty of her fans and her talents being beyond measure in today’s music industry. Just check her credentials. Janet has been in the game for over 40 years starting from her family’s variety show, “The Jacksons.” She then broke into her groove after the release of her third album Control, which gave the music industry notice that Janet is a force to be reckoned with. Since then, the youngest Jackson has had countless No. 1 and Top 10 hits and worked in some of the biggest movies from Poetic Justice to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Married. Janet also just started her own record label, Rhythm Nation, in which she released her latest album Unbreakable under. With all that said, the 50-year-old is still able to tour and can out dance most of today’s female artists. Not to mention, she’s expecting her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana.

Janet’s former Poetic Justice co-star Tupac Shakur leaves his own legacy with his short but fulfilled career not just as a rapper but also an actor. Pac graduated from the Baltimore School of Arts where he met lifelong friend and fellow actress Jada Pinkett Smith. But beyond that, Tupac’s music was majorly influential throughout the 90s and even after his death. Selling over 75 million albums as of 2007, Tupac continues to influence the masses as each generation hears his story. The nomination comes just in time as the release of his highly anticipated biopic Tupac: All Eyez On Me is set to premiere next year.

If Tupac is voted in, he would be the sixth hip-hop act inducted into The Hall of Fame following Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and last year’s inductees, N.W.A.

The inductees will be announced in December with the actual ceremony happening in April at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center filmed by HBO. Make your vote count!

Congratulations to all the nominees!!!!
