Louis Vuitton decided to try something new by having a male model for their womenswear line. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, is the face of the clothing brand’s “Series 4” spring/summer 2016 womenswear campaign.
Photographer Bruce Weber uploaded a photo of Jaden wearing a leather jacket, long fringed t-shirt, long skirt, and a tie wrapped around his hand.
Nicholas Ghesquiére, who is the creative director for the house of Louis Vuitton, stated, “Why does Jaden Smith star in this campaign? He represents a generation that has assimilated the codes of true freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender.”
Jaden Smith is well known in the fashion industry, and has never been afraid to blaze his own path. He has been known to express himself by wearing eccentric outfits. He wore a dress to actress Amandla Stenberg’s prom, a batman costume to KimYe’s wedding, and a batman suit to his own prom.
Ghesquiére also stated, “Wearing a skirt comes as naturally to him as it would to a woman who, long ago, granted herself permission to wear a man’s trench or a tuxedo.”
Jaden is open when it comes to wearing feminine clothes. Last year, he posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “Went to TopShop to Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean ‘Clothes.” Jaden is 17-years-old and already starting a trend and movement for the younger generation. We can’t wait to see the rest of the campaign photos
