Because we are all working women it is sometimes hard to keep up with the latest news in the fashion world. Fortunately, the EGL Fashion team is created for the working woman and this one post is going to bring you up to speed in a matter of seconds.
In case you missed it, your favorite designer’s favorite designer brand is coming to America. That’s right Balmain is finally opening the doors to its first flagship store in the US. You can now shop the brand in person at 100 Wooster Street in SoHo New York City. ‘Why New York?’ you ask, well the brand’s creative director says he finds the city inspiring and it is always the first place he visits when he hits the United States. The space is right next to Chanel’s SoHo location and houses both men’s and women’s clothing along with accessories and a children’s line to soon follow. If you are in the tri-state area drop into the store and let us know what you think. I am sure the pictures do not do the Mediterranean vibes any justice.
Speaking of designers there has been a big change in the house of YSL. In case you missed it Anthony Vaccarello, has left his creative director position at Versus Versace and has taken on the role of creative director at Yves Saint Laurent.
The CEO of YSL is extremely confident in the young talent, he boasts that Anthony is the “natural choice to express the essence of Yves Saint Laurent.” He will be replacing the beloved Hedi Slimane and is slated to show his first collection this October for Spring 2017. Look below to see some of Anthony Vaccarello’s past work with some of your favorite celebrities on red carpets and editorial pages. If this is what we have to look forward to Donatella Versace may regret letting Vaccarello get away.
Transitioning from young talent to fashion legends. Naomi Campbell is not only gracing us with her presence on our televisions every Wednesday on Empire, but in case you missed it she is also put out a coffee book yesterday April 7th. The provocative book filled with high fashion photos and editorial concepts is going for $1750. Would you put the first black woman on the cover French Vogue on top of your coffee table?
Naomi Campbell isn’t the only one that can slay a photo shoot. Singer, Songwriter, Actor, and New York Native Mack Wilds is staring in Levi’s new campaign for their MLB capsule collection and ladies he makes us want to wear his jacket. See below to check out how Levi has managed to capture the sports lover without taking away from the brand’s signature style.
Would you rock any of the pieces or buy them for bae?
Last but not least in case you missed it, YOU ROCK! The Black Girls Rock Awards did not only display an unprecedented amount of girl power, but it also reminded us of Kyemah Mcentre. Mcentre was the talented young designer who went viral after we saw her dressed for her senior prom:
While every woman who touched the #BGR red carpet slayed, who else do you know created their red carpet look? Mcentre whipped us into formation with this number and succeeded in giving us a militant black power fist on a dainty cream garment. Hands down, best dressed!
The fashion world is always busy. We love keeping our puds up to date with the freshest fashion news. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think about our fashion recap for this week.
