You’d liked to be that “It Girl.” The girl his mother, father, brother and sisters are all smitten with. Unfortunately, you don’t rub his family the right way, and frankly it strikes a nerve. So how do you deal with those backlashing brothers and slick talking sisters when accompanying him to those family festivities? No one ever said that being the “Black Sheep” of his family is an easy title to wear, but making it into a crown and wearing it with great confidence, love, and self-respect for yourself and others is a piece of cake. Here’s how…

The Love of God

It’s His love that keeps you from letting the words, “Who gives a sh!t” roll off of your tongue every time he mentions an event, special occasion or anyone of their names to you. And although you’d love to let your boo and his family know how you feel, you put your tongue in jail by not only remembering how much you’re loved, but by remembering your commitment to pleasing God.

He Loves Them…You Tolerate Them

Because there’s obviously a great amount of respect and love you have for your man, you remain pretty, polite and poised even in tough situations. Jibber jabber and sham smiles take too much time and energy, but being respectful and relaxed only exhibits the excellence of your existence.

You Love You

That’s right, you love you, and that’s all that really matters. So why bother trying to figure out why they don’t? Especially if you know deep down inside your heart you’ve always done what’s right and the best you could in any and every situation.

No matter what the situation is, other people’s distaste for you should never dictate or trigger dislike for yourself. If his family doesn’t like you, it’s their lost.
