The 2016 blockbuster film ‘Hidden Figures’ will reportedly have a series extended to the small screen, courtesy of Nat Geo.

Although the project is still in the early stages of development, both Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping have signed on to executive produce the series; reprising their roles behind the hit movie.

The Oscar-nominated biopic is based on the book written by Margot Lee Shetterly, and followed the untold true story of three brilliant African-American women and their crucial roles in calculating the first American orbit in space. It went on to top $200 Million worldwide and earn the film countless nominations including for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer), and Best Adapted Writing Screenplay during the 2017 Academy Awards season.

No word on whether Spencer, Janelle Monáe, or Taraji P. Henson would sign on to resurrect their roles for the soon to be series. Either way, the new development adds a new tier to Black TV Magic.
