The 89th annual Academy Awards took place last night and we agree that is Hollywood’s biggest night. All of the celebrities showed up and showed out in their best gowns and suits. I mean, it is a huge night for these thespians so we understand why they were dressed to the 9s. 2016 was a great year for film, making this night one to remember for all of the who’s who in Hollywood. Of course, we were focused on the jaw-dropping fashion seen on the red carpet. We noticed two super popular trends on the carpet: metallic and velvet. Also, many of our favorites chose to keep it simple in either black or white hues. We loved seeing both men and women draped in these beautiful trends. Well, here is a list of our absolute faves from the night..it was hard to narrow it down!
The LaLa Land singer was styled like she was ready to take home an Oscar. Emma can do no wrong; she is a fashion heavy hitter. She donned a Givenchy gown tailored to perfection. The gold accented fringe made for a perfect Hollywood look.
Taraji P. Henson
Channelling her character Katherine Johnson from Hidden Figures, Taraji looked amazing in a custom Alberta Ferretti gown. We can’t help but be obsessed with this off-the-shoulder midnight blue velvet gown. Taraji’s stylist, Jason Bolden, told Vogue,“For this look, our inspiration was vintage Hollywood glamour—a consistent go-to for us.”
Looking flawless and super futuristic, Priyanka rocked a Ralph and Russo gown. She paired the gown with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and simple yet perfect makeup.
9 times out of 10, Pharrell is on every best dressed list. He just gets it. Of course, as the face of Chanel, he had to rock a custom suit. The dapper gentleman channeled Karl Lagerfeld himself so he gave us so much life.
Arguably the best dressed of the night, Janelle Monae stunned in an Elie Saab Couture gown paired with Brian Atwood shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch and jewelry by Forevermark. Janelle Monae starred in two amazing films last year, Hidden Figures and Moonlight, and she definitely dressed like million dollar movie star last night.
Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake
Talk about couple goals. Jessica and Justin gave us all the feels slaying the red carpet together especially when Justin said Jessica’s dress was ‘perfection.’ Jessica wore a KaufmanFranco dress combined with a Tiffany & Co necklace that was a stunner while Justin opted for a Tom Ford tuxedo with a coordinated bowtie.
Who doesn’t love Ryan Gosling? Well, if you don’t, then you should now after he killed this velvet lapel suit. We are also so into this ’80s prom-inspired ruffled button down.
Lil’ mama was dreamy and dazzling at last night’s awards show. The Pitch Perfect 2 diva wore a sheer, floral gown by Ralph and Russo that was simply breathtaking.
