Most of us were disappointed to hear that Meek Mill would return to jail for 2-4 years for violating his probation. Earlier this year, he was arrested for fighting in a St. Louis airport. He was also arrested on the streets of NYC for recklessly driving his motorcycle. Combine that with traveling out of town for work without permission, and the Dream Chaser is incarceration once again—as a result of the judge’s strict sentencing.
After hearing the news of Meek Mill’s arrest, everyone on social media came out to support him by posting #FreeMeekMill and #JusticeForMeek. Even the Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf, filed a petition demanding that Meek`s sentence be reevaluated, stating:
“In regards to the harsh, undeserving sentencing of Robert Rihmeek Williams (Meek Mill), I felt the need to create a petition to reevaluate the charges, his impact in the community and the subsequent sentencing. More than just a celebrity or rapper, Meek Mill has been a powerful voice in the community for our youth. He has made positive contributions to many communities and programs, dedicating time and money to the cultivation of our youth and neighborhoods; even through his own adversities. He has Appcontinued to be dedicated and shown an immaculate work ethic, even at times when the system tried to prevent him from being able to tour, which is how he makes a living.
Celebrities like Meek’s girlfriend Nessa Colombiana, Kevin Hart, Van Jones, Rick Ross, A$AP Ferg & Jay-Z , all made memorable comments in support to Meek’s campaign, #Justice4Meek. Celebrities are urging for fans to use their right and sign the petition to help get Meek out of jail.
“Due to enormously grave miscarriage of justice, we ask you to read and sign the petition for Meek Mill on Change.org.”
Jay-z spoke out on tour and immediately released a statement, “The sentence handed down by the Judge — against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer — is unjust and heavy handed. We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career.”
A$AP Ferg joined in and released his statement and video featuring Meek Mill called “Trap and a Dream.” At the end of the video, the screen read, “FreeMeek.”
Ferg spoke on his support, saying, “Meek my brother and will forever have my support, especially in these tough times.”
With many speculations circulating around the case, Meek Mill`s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, called up Angie Martinez to set the record straight on what is the real reason Meek was sentenced to such an injustice time in jail. He explained that Meek has been with the same judge for 10 years and the judge has cross the line of professionalism asking Meek to leave Roc Nation and go with a local Philadelphia management team that she happens to have a relationship with. The judge also asked Meek in front of Nicki Minaj to remake Boys II Men “On Bended Knees” and shout out her out on the record. He declined to do the song and according to his lawyer, she said “suit yourself.” The Probation Officer and Prosecutor Attorney both recommended to the judge NOT to send Meek to jail. According to his attorney, he has never seen a judge overrule both the District Attorney and Probation Officer. In his experience, the judge had an infatuation with Meek.
On Monday, November 13, 2017 at 5 p.m., there will be a rally for Meek Mill at the Criminal Justice Center, located at 1301 Filbert Street, Philadelphia PA
