There were so many gorgeous gowns and sharp tuxedos spotted on the 2016 Oscars Red carpet. We at EGL always enjoy seeing who’s wearing what on the red carpet because it gives us the chance to see what designers have been working on and of course, we love a great slay. Who doesn’t? We are also able to point out growth or a change in style as well as compare looks throughout the years.
This year on the red carpet, the beautiful Lady Gaga wore a very tasteful yet unique white strapless jumpsuit. Brandon Maxwell is genius for adding such a flowing train, perfect for the red carpet. Alaia’s, designer of the dress she wore last year, design was pretty extravagant and bold along with the choice in red leather gloves. However, we love the subtle but drop dead look Lady Gaga went for this year.
Model Dorith Mous changed the game with the dress she wore, designed by Dennis Diem. She was certainly not feeling “red” this year, rather a very confident blue. We love the design, color and the fit of the dress but what we love most is: DETAIL. There’s no chance in anyone ever forgetting the chunky Alexander McQueen heels she wore to the 2015 Oscars Awards. That was major shoe game history. However, we love the more edgy look this model had at this year’s show. She totally killed it.
Speaking of killing, we’re not talking about Nightmare on Elm Street or the nightmare about some bloody lady named Mary but Rooney Mara! Actress, who starred in both films, looked stunning on the red carpet! She was dressed in Givenchy and we all know Givenchy is well known for such bomb designs. Again, detail is everything. We’re not against what she wore to last year’s event but we do wish she brought back the bangs! What a gorgeous look Rooney.
Cate Blanchett was not playing this year! She arrived in a low cut and form fitting flower bombed dress, designed by Armani. We love this choice in color on her. Opposed to the all-black look with the light blue neck accessory, this look does a better job in bringing out her shape. The difference in appearance is literally night and day. She looked amazing.
Slay on Charlize Theron: In Dior
We were so excited to see what Momma Chrissy Teigen wore on the red carpet this year. We loved the spice she brought to the carpet last year with a high slit gown. However, we fell in love with the design of this year’s dress. Two things: there’s nothing ordinary about this look and we’re completely head over hills for this look, just as much as John Legend. She was dressed in a Marchesa gown, beyond gorgeous!
If you are just as obsessed with fashion as we are, you completely understand why red carpet events are HUGE. It’s practically the show. Do you think the celebs had a major come back this year? Or do you prefer last year’s style? Tell us what you think below!
