In the latest issue of W magazine, we have the opportunity to get a glimpse in the life of these “Dream Teens” Willow Smith, Kiernan Shipka, and Zendaya.
Many of us were introduced to our first “Dream Teen” Willow Smith, the daughter of superstars Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, as she “Whipped Her Hair Back and Forth “ .At the time she belted that hit song she was only 10 years old. Now at 15 one would say she has definitely come into her own. She tells the magazine that her parents always encouraged her creativity, which as we can see has been the source of her unique style. Willow who is now exploring her creativity tells the magazine she doesn’t sing her hit song anymore, but was impressed that Bruce Springsteen covered her song on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Our second teen is the Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka. This sixteen year old talks about her audition for the show as a six year old for the show, and how the show taught her about fashion. The writer states how mature Shipka is, which could be attributed to being home schooled and being in the acting business since a baby. Kiernan got her start in the industry as an infant for Gerber. The teen star also gushed about her recent sweet sixteen party, and how one day she wants to go to prom.
Last, but certainly not least is our newest it girl teen Zendaya. The 19 -year old six foot tall teen goes only by her name describes how after her Oscar moment she was approached by Matel to have a Barbie made after her. She is excited to collaborate with the iconic brand, but tells the magazine she never played with Barbies as a child. Zendaya is a triple threat, and she showed off one of her skills as she came in second place in the dance competition show “Dancing with the Stars”. She tells the magazine how hard the training was for the show, even though she is a dancer and was in a hip hop dancing troupe.
These Dream Teens are very successful so far in their young careers. We can’t wait to see what the have in store for us in the future.
