As controversial as its cover, the March 2016 issue discusses a wide range of precarious topics. From size acceptance to body shaming, health issues to diet. The Body Brigade edition holds no punches and addresses these topics (and so many others), head on.

Body diversity is a matter that the American nation is slowly beginning to address and accept. Women with curves are sick and tired of enduring unfair treatment and scrutiny all due to their sizes. Society’s archaic views on the world in which we live and its residents are becoming unreasonable and impossible. The lengths in which some women will go to shed a few pounds are simply unacceptable. It’s time to speak out and speak up! Sizes 0 – 4 are not average and most women with heavier builds will never come close.

But, what about the ladies who don’t strive to be that petite? What about the women who are happy in the skin they’re in? Whether it be a size 8, 16 or 22, sexy comes in countless molds and this cover fully proves that fact!

Make no mistake about it, all of America isn’t completely small-minded in regards to this topic. There are many designers and brands who finally do realize that women of ALL sizes need elements to identify with. For example, Sports Illustrated recently featured their first plus size model, Ashley Graham, on their February 2016 cover. While high fashion designer, Christian Siriano, makes plans to link up with plus size fashion house, Lane Bryant to debut his new plus size collection.

With that being said, Ebony did a magnificent job of bringing this discussion to the forefront and allowing people to see plus size women in a new light. A sexy, seductive and provocative light that so many Americans didn’t think existed or were just too biased to take notice of.
