Models over 50 were represented more than ever during this past New York Fashion Week. Zara is one of the few brands that adapted this trend. They recently introduced the new line coined the “Timeless” collection with ads featuring models ranging between the ages of 40 and up. Fashion lovers and consumers were ecstatic to see age diversity in the world of threads. But did Zara hit the mark with this one?
The “Timeless” collection featured models Malgosia Bela, Yasmin Warsame, and Kristina de Coninck. The brand shot videos while these classic beauties discussed what getting older means to them, and how aging has affected their style. After all, we do get older and still love to feel effortless when making clothing selections. In the fashion world, designers shy away from older models opting to use younger models while missing a whole market of women who are timeless yet effortless lovers of fashion! How many of us has that stylish, cool aunt who’s closet we love to raid for vintage pieces? Or those fashion icons such as Tracee Ellis Ross and June Ambrose who are in their 40’s yet they always give 20 year olds a run for their money in the style department. EGL fashion is more than sure other designers and companies will catch on to the “Timeless” wave! To be honest, we are here for it Zara but would have loved to see more women with curves and melanin (note to Zara’s creative department)!
These staples are sure to stay in your wardrobe for years to come and reconfirms that fashion has no boundaries nor a age limit. You can shop at Zara at any age and still feel fashion forward.
