New York Fashion Week was everything we needed it to be. We had the amazing opportunity to attend some incredible shows so of course we have to give you the rundown!
Just last week Mimi Prober’s ready-to-wear collection gave us something to look forward to next year with her Spring/ Summer 2018 show. EGL attended the New York Fashion Week runway presentation, and we were taken away with a storyline of pieces from a breezy yet sultry collection of pieces.
The crowd consisted of those who were trendy and effortlessly stylish, all gathered at Skylight Clarkson Square in lower Manhattan for a late night 8pm show. The event even brought out celebrity attendees like catwalk extraordinaire Miss Jay and Jeremy Carver who plays young Luscious on Fox’s, Empire. As everyone anxiously awaited for the show to open, you couldn’t help but admire the beautiful entrance at the top of the runway draped in dried flowers arrangements. The entranceway certainly set the tone for the pieces that were to come.
While every piece could without a doubt stand alone, they all still tied into one another just the way a collection should! From flowy, peasant inspired looks to colorful patchwork jackets, and intricate Lacy corsets; it was hard not to love a few, if not most Prober’s Spring pieces. The color scheme stayed more muted and neutral throughout most of the looks with pale airy blues, silky sleek blacks, and refined nudes. It’s seems as though Mimi has managed to consistently raise the bar for herself each time she participates in NYFW and we’re even more excited for what’s to come next!

Creative Cartel x ICU Network
How many of us can say we’ve attended a fashion show at a furniture store? After last week I can officially say I have! The unique fashion event took place at Raymour and Flaningans, who also helped to sponsor the show. While the retail furniture giant’s downtown Brooklyn location, is not the ordinary place you’d expect to see models walk the runway, this event was not for the small mind. Creative Cartel and ICU Network put together an eclectic untraditional show to close out their Fashion Week. The lineup featured a wide range of designers showcasing eye popping pieces that kept the crowd guessing! Not only did the event bring the local community together while supporting charitable causes. The night also provided a platform to debut new looks for the designers; a few in which have even participated in TV’s most prestigious designer competition, Project Runway!
Pieces from Randy Leaño brought a soft elegance to the show both featuring impressive use of beaded embellishments and airy flowing fabrics. Designers like Vincent “Chacha” Yu and Ty Scott gave us Au vant garde style with collections that featured angel wings, teddy bears and feathered Native American inspired head pieces. “One Mama” showcased what could be considered, clothing for a cause. African inspired, handmade pieces for both men and women alike laced the runway. 100% of the proceeds from the company are put towards creating birthing clinics and kits for soon-to-be mothers in need throughout Africa and with intentions to take the non-profit organization across the globe!
Overall the event spotlighted some talented designers who are definitely worth getting familiar with.

What a collection! The brand is based on the love between a beautiful French Creole woman, Negris and her lover Sam. The designer stated that Negris and Sam’s love overcame all societal differences, which he wanted to convey with his runway show. The SS 2018 line gave a romantic feel with the prints and silk pieces. Classical soul music from the 1940’s played as the models walked down the runway. The show almost didn’t happen because the designer and his team were affected in Texas by Hurricane Harvey. The designs were effortless and it was very clear that no storm can stop them. What stood out most from Negris Lebrum runaway show was each look could be worn separately or together. That is important and a must for the women on the go!
As the models walked the runway, each look told a story. You felt the romance between Negris and Sam. You could paint a visual of a woman wearing these pieces for any occasion just by the use of fabric. Whether they were on a dinner date, out for a stroll in the park or an evening of dancing, we loved every look. The sleeveless printed jumper with the plunging neckline could be taken from the office to happy hour or date night!
Here are some of our favorite looks!

Southern Charm meets Upper East Side…
The perfect description for such a chic collection!
Jacci Jackson, the owner and founder of Magnolia Silks, unveiled her capsule collection at her “Catwalk to Sidewalk” show for New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Jackson, and three additional designers, all came together and put on an unbelievable fashion presentation that had every blogger, photographer and videographer in the room buzzing with excitement!
Presenting alongside Magnolia Silks that evening was fellow fashion houses Underwood NY, Danny Nguyen Couture and Cesar Galindo.
Danny Nguyen Couture
It was an epic evening of epic style proportions, to say the least.
Jacci, girl, you have truly outdone yourself! Who would have ever thought, without knowing her personally, that this was her first show? No one, that’s who!
Impeccably put together, the Magnolia Silks Collection contained an unbelievable wealth of luscious fabrics and textures. The line’s color palette featured rich pastel hues of yellow, blue, pink and green which all complimented the larger color story of white. To put it plainly, this collection was giving us Sex in the City with a southern twist. A lethal combination that would appeal to every modern day woman, anywhere!
