Melanin Mommas, a digital community of millennial mothers, brought together mothers from all over the New York tri-state area for their first inaugural “It Takes a Village” brunch and panel experience.
Taking place at ESO the event was moderated by Melanin Mommas founder Wafer Tetevi and highlighted the experiences of Pilar Scratch (Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist), Marz Lovejoy (multi-media artist/ Savage x Fenty Model) and Andresha (Children’s Fashion Stylist) as they shared their personal journey through motherhood.
The mothers in attendance enjoyed a specially designed brunch selection crafted by the talented Chef Shawnae as the intimate panel discussion explored the topics of breast feeding, postpartum depression, balancing their careers and motherhood plus more.
“Moments like this is why I started Melanin Mommas. Feeling lost and alone in my troubles I wanted to start something for Mommas like me that were going through similar things. This motherhood journey is difficult and can sometimes break you down. But with a community of mothers to help lift you up, gives a profound meaning to It Takes a Village.” – Wafer Tetevi
Melanin Mommas was created by Wafer to give young mothers of color a safe space where they could share their thoughts, fears, wonderful moments, and advice on motherhood. This network of wonder women seeks to provide inspiration, motivation and a necessary support system for one of the greatest journeys of life.
