Even our very own media mogul Yandy Smith was an honoree and had this to say during her acceptance speech: “Growing up I would always looked to the pioneers before me and paved the way and now I’m standing here as an honoree and I’m so humbled.”

Founder and CEO Judith Jacques created Black Women in Media out of a need to provide a platform for women in media and entertainment. I wanted to create an opportunity where Black Women In Media and Entertainment careers can have a space to celebrate each other, inspire one another, educate future media mavens, and honor pioneers who’ve paved the way for us, she explained during an interview.

And while the recipients were being honored and celebrated, they also made sure they were dropping gems and words of wisdom to the audience inspiring them to work hard and believe in their dreams.

“A lot of times you’re not acknowledged for the work you put in… People may say, ‘hey you’re doing a bang up job.’ If you believe in something go out and get it.” -Said by Lil Mama during her acceptance’ speech.

The night was filled with joy, tears, and inspiration, and as well musical performances from a variety of genres including Soul, Hip-Hop and R&B.

Guest got a chance to mingle and network with each other before and after the awards ceremony over cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by BWIM.
