Classes are back in session today at Ohio State University. The institution shut down operations on Monday after 11 students were attacked by a fellow student, Abdul Razak Ali Artan.
At 9:53 am ET, Artan drove his car into a crowd of students on campus before leaving his vehicle to stab others. The University held a routine fire alarm which explains why there were several people outside during the attack in front of the academic hall.
Police arrived on the scene quickly and killed the suspect. It is believed that Artan was inspired by ISIS. The terrorist group claims that Artan was one of their soldiers but authorities haven’t confirmed that rumor. On Monday morning, Artan reportedly posted on Facebook urging America “to stop interfering with other countries, especially the Muslim Ummah.”

Earlier in the school year, Artan made a statement in the university’s publication that he was concerned about being a Muslim and praying in public.
“If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen,” he stated. Unfortunately, what would happen is that he would lose his life because of his actions.
The campus is thankful for Officer Alan Horujko who shot Artan, yet saddened by the tragic event.
One person who hasn’t been quiet about the shooting is President Elect Donald Trump, who has been very vocal about deporting illegal immigrants. He took to his platform of choice, Twitter, to share his sentiments.
ISIS is taking credit for the terrible stabbing attack at Ohio State University by a Somali refugee who should not have been in our country.
